Senator Lisa Murkowski had it exactly right on exports of natural gas: "The window for the United States to join the global gas trade will not be open indefinitely." Murkowski, the top Republican on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, published a white paper today called "The Narrowing Window: America's Opportunity to Join the Global Gas Trade." In it she says global gas demand is growing, but it isn’t unlimited. As a result, she says that the U.S. needs to accelerate the approval of permits before countries like Australia, Algeria and Indonesia beat us to the punch. We couldn’t agree more. Check out her full report here, and don’t forget to read to the recommendations.
